Her first point focused on triage discipline. In her view, many errors can be avoided by staying calm, not panicking, and consistently applying an ABCD approach (airway, breathing, circulation, disability, exposure). She said this structured scan helps clinicians avoid missing key problems, begin stabilization earlier, and ultimately feel more comfortable while minimizing errors in high-pressure situations.

On CPR, Perissinotto stressed a time-critical message tied to updated guidance she referenced: do not waste time checking for a pulse in an unresponsive patient. Instead, she advised clinicians to start chest compressions immediately, while arranging ventilation support from a colleague or ventilating as needed.

Looking ahead, she discussed whether intensive care monitoring could be guided by artificial intelligence. She suggested AI may help flag patterns—such as changes in bloodwork that could be overlooked during busy or overnight shifts—but emphasized that clinical judgment remains essential.
